kotzebue-in-the-rain1I found this image on Google Images by searching on Kotzebue–this is a view from an apartment where I lived 20 years ago–and much of the junk is still the same as it was then…

It always amazed me how people in villages can tolerate all that junk. It was the same when I lived in Barrow. My favorite season of the year was winter because everything was covered with snow and looked clean. In spring when the snow was gone, the same junk appeared year after year after year.
It is probably a question of habit – you see it so many time that you just don’t pay attention to it any more. Unfortunately…

    Awesome photo! Thank you Dennis.

So many people experience life with the “things” that surround them, and fail to reconize the relationships they once had.

Look beyond the “junk,” and focus what lies ahead, relationships. Love of others around you.

    Taikuu-Thank you.

I’ve traveled around the world and I have been the most worst dirty places, but it didn’t stop me from visiting again. It’s the heart and soul of the people that live in those poor situations that makes every trip worth while.

Don’t let the end of your camera lens focus on what you see, focus on what you experience in a community.
